How often should I have my roof inspected?

As roofs age in Northeast Ohio even without a precipitating weather event causing damage routine roof maintenance should be a part of your home upkeep. Most roofs upon reaching the 10-15 year mark should get an inspection, and we recommend it every year after that. Often something as simple as replacing failing caulk around an exposed nailhead or pipe boot can save you the time, energy, and money spent to repair after the water has made its way through.

Will my insurance company cover my roof even if it's old?

We get this one a lot, and our experience has been that as long as you've kept paying Home Insurance that includes the roof, the age of the roof is not an issue if a weather event has caused damage.

How difficult is the claims process?

It can range from incredibly easy to monumentally challenging. Insurance companies are not exactly renowned for making anything simple. We often meet with your adjustor so someone walks the property with them and can agree on damages, prepare documentation estimates and photo reports, cite city, state, and federal codes, attempt to determine the current materials used among the multitude of other hoops that often need to be jumped through every step of the way in determining a proper scope of repair or replacement work on your largest investment, your home. Our goal is to work for you throughout that process and to do the work to Construction Best Practices, all code and manufacturer requirements, and a step beyond all of those, to KC Roofing Standards.

How do I know if my roof needs to be replaced?

Many roofs can be repaired rather than replaced, and a lot can come into play in determining that beyond just the current condition or damage on a roof. Certain materials are not allowed to be mixed on roofs, some shingles have been long discontinued and some just cannot be reasonably repaired due to their current condition. Workmanship and grade of materials used can be a large determining factor in replacing a roof, it's why we offer 10-year workmanship and 30-year material warranty on every full replacement we do as the bare minimum.

How long will it take to replace my roof?

Once the material delivery is scheduled and the building permit is issued by your city, you will receive a call to schedule your installation. Depending on the size of your home, the project will take anywhere from 1-5 days with many jobs requiring only one. Following the completion of the installation, our quality control personnel will do a second cleanup of the property and inspect the work to ensure all products are installed according to the manufacturer’s installation specifications, city, state, and federal codes, and construction best practices.
